Hi there, my name is Zi Xu and I was born on the island of Hainan, China, but grew up in the US. I graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2018 with a BFA in Illustration and Art History and currently work as a freelance illustrator in the entertainment industry. Like my background, my art is inspired by a mix of Classical Chinese ink painting and 1950’s American editorial illustration.

Over the past few years, I’ve completed an artist residency in Iceland, illustrated a Star Wars mural for Lucasfilm, created cover art for limited edition SteelBook releases such as Akira Kurosawa’s Ran and Chad Stahelski’s John Wick 4, done gig posters for top bands such as Metallica and The Smashing Pumpkins, and collaborated with numerous companies and clients to promote their products and apps as a brand ambassador. In 2023, I won a Gold Clio for my work on the John Wick 4 Artist Series for Lionsgate and started a side hustle as a model and actor.

I currently live in LA and enjoy reading sci-fi novels, practicing archery, and playing Baldur’s Gate 3 in my free time. I would love to work with you on your next project, so don’t hesitate to get in touch!
